Saadoun wakes up every morning in silence so as not to wake his beloved dog Simsim. And when Simsim finally wakes up, he barks with joy and fetches the ball to play with Saadoun. But there’s a problem – Saadoun is not there! How will Simsim spend his day without Saadoun? And what will happen when Saadoun returns from school?
The story “”Where Are You, Saadoun?”” shines a light on the relationship between a child and their pet, illustrating the challenges of separation and the joy of reunion in a way that will touch the hearts of young readers.

تعرّفوا على سعدون، الطّفل الّذي يستيقظ كلّ صباح بسكون لكي لا يوقظ كلبه الحبيب سمسم. وعندما يستيقظ سمسم أخيرا، ينبح بسعادة ويقفز برشاقة ويحضر الكرة ليعلب بها مع سعدون. ولكن هناك مشكلة، سعدون غير موجود! فكيف سيقضي سمسم يومه في غياب سعدون؟ وماذا سيحدث عندما يعود سعدون من المدرسة؟
قصّة “”أين أنت يا سعدون”” تسلّط الضّوء على العلاقة بين الطفل وحيوانه الأليف، وتبيّن تحدّيات الانفصال وفرحة اللقاء، بطريقة ستلامس قلوب القرّاء الصغار.
Mohammed Casper, an Egyptian novelist and playwright, was born in Alexandria in March 1991. He holds a Master's degree in Political Science from Atanoma University in Spain, earned in 2016. He is a member of the screening committee at the Alexandria Short Film Festival and has been involved in the editing of the Luxor African Cinema Festival newsletters in the years 2019, 2020, and 2021. Additionally, he practices film criticism on various online platforms.
Mohammed has published numerous illustrated children's stories with various publishing houses, along with a novel for adults. He has received several awards, notably the Alaa Jabr Award for Best Adult Theatrical Text for his work titled ""Al-Waha"" in 2022. In 2020, he won the Best Theatrical Text for Children award from the Arab Theatre Authority in Sharjah for his work titled ""Seif Al-Hares,"" and in 2019, he won the Best Theatrical Text award in a literary competition for his work titled ""Ahd Al-Asad.""
Furthermore, Casper has received several grants and artistic residencies.
About the Illustrator
Ali Al-Zeini is an artist living in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. He has loved drawing since his childhood and became attached to it. He enjoyed drawing everything he encountered, including events, his family members, friends, and their pets. He diversified his artistic styles and recently shifted towards illustrating children's books. He has illustrated numerous children's books across the Arab world and some European countries, collaborating with various publishing houses.
