Holidays are an important part of every child's life, and among these holidays are Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha every year. Children eagerly prepare for this special day, and the story The Sounds of Eid presents details of Eid day and the day before in an engaging and exciting manner that fills the child reader with joy and happiness. In addition to warm and expressive illustrations and cheerful colors, the story introduces children to some of the Arab customs and traditions followed by families during the holidays, such as giving Eid gifts, performing Zakat al-Fitr, visiting relatives, and preparing delicious Eid cakes. It also includes some concepts and values such as giving, sharing, and helping those in need. The story presents all the above through its focus on the sounds children hear during the days of Eid, including the sound of counting paper money, the sound of microphone taps before the Eid prayer, the sound of tearing gift wrap, and the sound of taking pictures. Some of these sounds evoke feelings of warmth and happiness in the hearts, like the sound of taking pictures and the sound of grandma's loving kisses, and the sound of eating small Eid cakes or mamoul.

About the Author
Mai Saleh Zaitoun, is a Palestinain author and mother of two. She considers motherhood to be one of her most important goals, and she is passionate about raising Arab children who are proud of their heritage and language. Sounds of Eid is her fourth book.
About the Illustrator
Lara Al Jannoun, is a Lebanese illustrator and graphic designer. Lara is passionate about drawing and storytelling since childhood. She grew up next to a public library, spending hours reading stories and admiring various drawing styles. She has illustrated around 30 children's picture books so far.
تعدّ الأعياد جزءا مهمّا في حياة كلّ طفل، ومن هذه الأعياد عيدا الفطر والأضحى من كلّ عام، فيتحمّس الأطفال في التّجهيزات والتّحضيرات لهذا اليوم المميّز. وقصّة أصوات العيد تقدّم تفاصيل يوم العيد واليوم الذي يسبقه بأسلوب جذّاب ومشوّق يشعر الطّفل القارئ بالبهجة والسّعادة، فبالإضافة إلى الرّسومات الدّافئة والمعبّرة والألوان المبهجة، تعرّف القصّة الأطفال على بعض العادات والتّقاليد العربيّة التي تتّبعها العائلات في الأعياد، مثل تقديم العيديّات، وأداء زكاة الفطر، وزيارة الأقارب، وتحضير كعك العيد اللذيذ. وتتضمّن أيضًا بعض المفاهيم والقيم مثل العطاء والمشاركة ومساعدة المحتاجين، وتعرض القصّة كلّ ما سبق من خلال تركيزها على الأصوات التي يسمعها الأطفال خلال أيّام العيد، ومن هذه الأصوات: صوت عدّ النقود الورقيّة، وصوت طبطبة الميكروفون قبل صلاة العيد، وصوت تمزيق ورق الهدايا، وصوت التقاط الصّور. وبعض هذه الأصوات تضفي شعورا من الدّفء والسّعادة على القلوب مثل صوت التقاط الصور وصوت قبلات الجدّة الحنونة، وصوت أكل كعك العيد.

عن الكاتب/ة
مي صالح زيتون، مؤلفة أردنية من أصل فلسطيني وأم لطفلين. تعتبر الأمومة من أهم أهدافها وهي شغوفة بتربية أطفال عرب فخورين بتراثهم ولغتهم. قصة "أصوات العيد" هي إصدارها الرابع.
عن الرسام/ة
لارا الجنون، رسامة ومصممة جرافيك لبنانية. لديها شغف بالرسم وسرد القصص منذ الطفولة. نشأت بجوار مكتبة عامة، حيث كانت تقضي ساعات في قراءة القصص والاطلاع على أساليب الرسم المختلفة. رسمت لارا حوالي 30 كتابًا مصورًا للأطفال حتى الآن.
